You Look Like A Rock and Roller

 Welcome back RRR fans!

On the agenda: Making you look like a rock and roller.

What do you think of when you imagine the rock and roll aesthetic?

        Drugs, sex, and loud music?

There is truly no way to define this aesthetic other than extremely daring and wildly exciting. However, here is a crash course on how to instantly transform your current look into more of a traditional rock and roller with only five key items.

Build your look:

Number One

Boots - Possibly the name of an ex-lover, "Chelsea" boots are the perfect way to edge up your look and stay comfortable all night long—on or off stage. Extra points if your boots are Doc Martins!

Kicks - Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars were seen back in the day are widely popular now. Whether they are black, white, or any color of the rainbow, a pair of Converse, especially high-top, will make you look super artsy.

Number Two

Pants - Don't be afraid to play with texture and silhouette. This is where you get to explore your style more. Wearing a pair of leather pants, corduroys, or even some slouchy slacks will have you rocking in no time. Pick your pant silhouette based on the shoes you are wearing. Wearing a pair of knee-high boots calls for a skinny pair of pants. Possibly, you are wearing the classic Chelsea boot instead, go for more of a straight-fit look. Possibly, you are being a bit more daring with a pair of iconic platform boots, a pair of flared will serve you well for this type of shoe.

Skirts -  Depending on your style, a skirt might be the best choice for you. A colorful kilt is always a moment. Axel Rose from Guns N’ Roses often wore kilts to pay tribute to his Scottish heritage and to break gender biases. However, if a kilt is not so much your style, there are other options such as a leather mini or a tulle midi.

Number Three

Blouses - It is classic rock and roll after all. Button-down shirts with ruffles or bell sleeves take it back to the hippie 60s with Pink Floyd and the Beatles or the edgy 90s with Prince’s Purple Rain.

Tanks and Tees - Sometimes the simple option is the best. Going back to the basics, a broad strap tank in a pattern or solid color is a great option. True rock and rollers can also often be found wearing a graphic t-shirt of any silhouette: fitted, slouchy, or ripped to shreds. Keeping your top simple, allows your show-stopper, your jacket, to shine without any distractions.

Number Four

Jackets - A true staple to top off any rock and roll look. There are so many classic jacket types and styles to choose from! From Jimi Hendrix’s Royal Hussar military jacket (a look Stevie Nicks made her own also), a leather number, the classic 90s afghan (AKA the Penny Lane), or even a coat made out of sequins. Your options are endless and it is the perfect chance to show off your personal style.

Vests - Maybe you run a little hot, so a statement jacket isn’t so much your thing, this is where vests are the best. Apply the same jacket formula to your vests, the more unique the better! Try a leather, afghan, or beaded vest to top off your look.

Number Five

Accessories - Don’t get lost in the accessories, it is easy to do! However, you also don’t want to forget about them. Sunglasses are a must, no matter the shape, color, or embellishments. Chunky, silver jewelry is also a signature staple, thank you to the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. Scarves and shawls are also iconic rock and roll fashion moments, Stevie Nicks is the true creator of this signature.

All in all, looking like a rock and roller depends on how much you experiment with your own unique style and flair. If you are confident and “rock” your look, you already look like a true rock and roller.

Until next time RRR Fans.
